News:

As of February 2003 - A whole new page devoted to my starship! None of these images are good quality but at around 50kb each you can't complain.

April 2003 - I have re-encoded the videos on this page using DIVX 5.04. They're all here now, and about a third of their previous size!

U.S.S OMEGA NCC-5530-B

This is my latest ship, started about late January 2003 and modelled in 3DS4.2. 'Completely finished' by March, although open to changes as I see fit. The second ship to carry the name Omega (This one is Savoy Class) and the only one that's any good at all! I am currently working on interiors of this ship but much of my time is spoken for at the moment and therefore progress is somewhat limited. I will post pictures of the bridge when I have something useful to show.

Here are the dimensions of the ship, which I calculated using 3D Studio Max's  measure facility:

Length: 700m
Width:
304m
Depth:
125m

The latest pictures are near the top. Each is 800x600 or 1024x768 unless specified otherwise.

Here is the result of an experiment in trying to model the Star Trek: First Contact battle. It didn't work too well and mostly because I hadn't finished modelling the ship. The first video is the full path of three ships in one section of the battle and the second video is a section of the first but one ship is firing photon torpedoes. No need to remind me that these videos are crap! These two videos require the DIVX 5.04 codec to run.

U.S.S DAIRYLAND NCC-5530-A

My second ever ship. This ship was my first computer generated attempt, created on a cover disk version of Cinema 4D 5SE given to me by a close friend (who is far too good at 3d modelling) who relit my passion in Starship design. Named Dairyland, it seemed like a good idea at the time, unfortunately so did calling it an "Ice-cream class vessel"! I started this in about June/July 2002 and spent very little time on it. Much like my latest ship I spent much of the modelling time learning to use the program itself and subsequently the quality of the model is quite bad. This ship really served as a practice attempt and gave me a good knowledge of CGI systems which has lead to the latest incarnation of the Omega ship. The ship itself is made of primary looking elements and very little detail at all. This model is not and will never be finished.

The latest pictures are near the top. Each is 800x600 or 1024x768 unless specified otherwise.

Here are the two videos rendered with this ship. The second here is a sample render done with the final model in about August 2002. This video is really simple, it's just the ship flying past, it shows the quality (or lack of) in this model! The first video was my first attempt at real movement in Cinema 4D, it's not bad, but certainly not good, or even finished :(. The long render times put me off animation and still do to this day, so roll on the next computer upgrade!

U.S.S OMEGA NCC-5530

My first ever ship! This ship was not computer generated imagery but three detailed hand drawings. I did the drawings around five to six years ago. I can't remember how exactly the ship registration number and name came about, nor do I care. The drawings were probably inaccurate but from my memory I remember being very impressed with them. I drew up specifications of the ship and designed a comm. badge for the ship too. Unfortunately, upon trying to find these aging drawings I think I have discovered a disturbing truth! I accidentally threw away the drawings about four months ago whilst clearing out old work. I can't be absolutely sure of this and I will make every effort (when I have the time) to find the drawings. For now, I will post things about the ship that I remember, when I remember :-(
